Boy George, the DJ and former Culture Club singer, has appeared in court to deny assaulting and imprisoning a Norwegian rent boy last April.

At today’s 20-minute hearing at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London he appeared using his real name, George O’Dowd.

He was bailed and he trial will begin on November 24th.

It is alleged that 28-year-old Auden Carlsen met the former Culture Club star on website Gaydar and agreed to go to George’s flat in London’s Shoreditch at midnight for a £400 photo session.

He claims he was chained to a wall by George and another man and that he was in fear for his life.

He fled the apartment the next morning in his underwear after working his bonds loose and rang police from a local shop.

In 2006 George completed five days of community service in New York after being convicted of false reporting of an incident.

He claimed he had been robbed, but when police arrived to investigate they found a large quantity of cocaine in his flat.
