Super Tuesday may very well decide the Democratic and Republican candidates who will compete in the Presidential race but it will certainly NOT decide the 2008 Presidential race. That can only be decided in November.
So suddenly our votes count, despite their reluctance to supotrt gay issues.
Smart gay voters would tell them to BOTH bugger off.Bill Clinton signed DOMA and Hillery has a history of “forgetting” her gay supporters when they are inconvenient.Obama is friendly with anti-gay black preachers. If either of them are in fact “gay friendly” and not “gay friendly when its convenient”, then I am French war hero.
I plan to pull the lever marked “flush” in voting booth in November. The crap candidates the two major parties are stinking up the place. Will the Queen please take us back? The colonies are in big trouble.
Hillary Clinton is one of two antigay candidates running for the Democratic nomination. The other is Barak Obama. They both pigheadedly oppose samesex marriage. Their party dropped the hate crimes bill and gutted ENDA and refused to even try to repeal Clintons DOMA and DADT so they wouldn’t be election issues. They both support union busting laws, endless tax breaks for the rich and deregulation of corporate predators that have sabotaged our standard of living and sent the economy into a steep nosedive. They support the war but oppose socialized medicine. A vote for them is a vote for eight more years of Bush Lite – gaybashing, war and economic disaster. If you want real change then vote for any communist, socialist, labor or other left wing party or for ‘none of the above’, which is our version of Saviks ‘flush’ lever here in Nevada. In addition tens of millions will refuse to vote, disgusted at the latest round of lesser evils to come down the pike. Voting for one of these lesser evil candidates is like debating the merits of bone cancer vrs. late stage chronic diabetes.
Omar and James, I vote for nobody who doesn’t support my rights, be they democrat, republican, labour or tory. This two party system is not working in either society, it is corrupt and not serving the interests of all the people which is what democracy is all about. Give me the Greens any time, at least they support full equality and a host of other important issues, the only party with a real platform in the interests of all. Can you imagine the impact the Greens would have if every Gay voter supported them, worldwide? The sleaze-bags and expedients in the two major parties would be vying for our votes more than ever. Sadly, that’s not going to happen. If it does, I hope I’m alive to see it.
Bill, I would never vote for any of them. I’m a Green so that counts me out. I don’t believe in voting for anyone just to get the more conservative candidate out of office. All you get is the same old crap every four or five years in either society and as always, we’re on the bottom rung of the ladder in the pecking order of things. As I said in another post, the two party system is corrupt and needs replacing with better government and better candidates who are genuinely interested in equality and justice for all, not just for the status quo who happen to be overwhelmingly straight. Voting for what we currently have is voting against one’s self. An even more perverse form of self-loathing.
