Now if only we could get all the other Anglican clerics s to join the Rt. Rev. James Jones to apologise for all of the antigay rhetoric and discrimination they’ve supported until recently, we’d be in far better shape. We won’t see anything of the likes coming from the Roman church, though they did apologise to the Jews in regard to the crucifixion. One of the tenets of christianity is forgiving those we’ve harmed. Fallen on deaf ears when it comes to us.

Robert, I was a little surprised at Jones statement. I thought that Desmond Tutu, the foremost supporter of GLBT rights among the anglican senior clergy was a ‘voice crying out in the wilderness’ with little support. Tutu is famous for not pulling his punches when he condemns anti-GLBT bigots in his church and for accurately describing and forthrightly condemning the racist apartheid practices used against the Palestinians by the zionists. While I agree that their mea culpa for blaming Jews for ‘murdering’ their ‘god’ was a good thing I’ll take them seriously when they publically admit that their silence while the Nazi’s murdered six million Jews and 12 million Soviet POW’s was a crime of complicity against humanity. They could also apologize for aiding many SS men like Mengele and Eichmann to escape punishment. Today their opposition to the distribution of safe sex educational materials, devices and antivirals makes them complicit in the spread of the plague. They should be compelled to sell the contents of the Vatican library and empty their treasure vaults and compensate the victims of their silence and deliberate attempts to spread the deadly HIV pandemic.

Bill, Jones surprised me too. As for the Vatican’s complicity in the spread of the HIV pandemic for its refusal to allow condom distribution in the emerging nations, history will be the judge of that. Its nothing more than wanton murder, genocide even. WIth its immense wealth in art, real estate and stocks, it should follow the tenets of its leader by selling everything they have and give it to the poor. Mothers in some of these nations are now passing on the virus to their babies by prechewing food because there are no adequate baby food supplies. It begs the question, just what are these religious missionaries supposed to be doing other than converting them to their cult via religious imperialism?
