A TV programme in which a bisexual woman goes on a mission to see if lesbians view the female body the same way as heterosexual men has been showing this week.

Current TV is showing Lesbian Beauty as part of a week-long season it is currently hosting named Skin Deep, which is airing until January 12th.

In a bid to go beyond the usual lesbian beauty stereotypes of ‘butch’ or ‘lipstick lesbians,’ Tat Grey visited the Miss Gay UK pageant, met the editor of Diva magazine and hit the lesbian clubs and bars on the street of Soho.

Grey, a self-accepting fat person and bisexual woman, also met up with a lesbian porn director.

The channel is also screening the documentary We are all Transvestites, in which a size zero male model, Fletcher, goes into the underground London fashion scene to discover drag and gender experimentation which are currently influencing mainstream fashion.

Current TV launched in the UK and Ireland in 2007 on the Sky and Virgin Media platforms.

It is the first television channel created by, for and with an 18 to 34 year-old audience and one third of the channel’s content is provided by the very audience who watches it.

The channel was founded by former Vice President of the United States Al Gore and entrepreneur Joel Hyatt, who described it as “TV for the internet generation.”

The station launched in the US in 2005 has already received an Emmy award.
