26 January 2007Jewish adoption agency open to gays 3 The only registered Jewish adoption and fostering agency in England has told PinkNews.co.uk that they are not seeking an exemption from the Sexual Orientation Regulations.Norma Brier, who is chief executive of the agency, Norwood, confirmed that they will comply with the regulations, which are designed to protect gay lesbian and bisexual people from discrimination when accessing goods and services. -

29 January 2007Lesbian couple win country club case + A lesbian couple have won a lawsuit after the California Supreme Court ruled that the a country club had discriminated against them on the basis of their marital status.Birgit Koebke and Kendall French are unable to marry under state law.A San Diego country club, of which Koebke is a member, refused to take this into consideration when it forced her domestic partner to pay guest fees for the Club's golf course. -
29 January 20072007 Moscow Pride will go ahead vow activists 4 The organisers of Moscow Pride have vowed to hold the event in 2007, as they formally start proceedings at the European Court of Human Rights concerning last year's Pride.They are also considering appealing to the Russian Supreme Court in parallel with their European action.In May 2006 the first Pride march in the city was beset by violence after Moscow's mayor refused to grant a permit. -
29 January 2007DNA evidence casts doubt on gay murder conviction + A man from Davenport who was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a gay pensioner could be freed in the light of new evidence.Robert Kennedy was found guilty of murdering Arthur Eathorne, a 74-year-old gay pensioner, at his Plymouth flat on September 21, 1990.Kennedy has spent the last 16 years at Garth prison in Preston, but has always maintained his innocence. -
29 January 2007Official – no Catholic adoption opt-out 10 The Prime Minister has announced that the government will not be granting an opt-out for Catholic adoption agencies from the Sexual Orientation Regulations.Instead, the regulations regarding adoption will come into force at the end of 2008.This means that Roman Catholic-run adoption agencies will have nearly two years to adjust to the new rules. -

29 January 2007English Cardinal disappointed at adoption decision 10 Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor has expressed his disappointment at the decision by the Prime Minister not to grant an exemption from anti-discrimination legislation for Roman Catholic adoption agencies.The Cardinal, who is the head of the church in England and Wales, adopted a conciliatory tone in his comments, in contrast to his assertion last week that agencies would close rather than consider gay or lesbian couples as adoptive parents. -
