Next year the countdown to the 2012 Olympic Games begin in earnest. August 2008 marks the start of London’s Olympiad.

To kick-start the activities, London 2012 and the London Development Agency are launching the Get Set London roadshow on Wednesday 9th January in Trafalgar Square.

This is a great opportunity for Londoners to find out how the 2012 Olympic Games Paralympic Games will benefit jobs and skills, culture, sports, business and regeneration in the capital.

Everyone can find out how they can get involved right now in the Games and Paralympic Games.

The Get Set London roadshow launch will feature three themed pods:

Everyone’s Games – Giving Londoners the opportunity to try out a series of activities to measure their fitness and coordination levels using the latest high-tech equipment.

The results then suggest what sports each person would be good at. Visitors will also have the opportunity to take part in a ‘great sporting moments’ photograph.

Join in – Watch as musical acts from across the capital compete for the incredible opportunity to perform during the handover celebrations in London in August 2008.

There will also be a range of creative workshops for those attending the roadshow to take part in.

Opportunities – Londoners seeking information on Games related employment, skills training and business opportunities can find out more and, if required, can access assistance to get prepared.

This pod will provide a range of easily accessible information via touch-screen computers and materials to take away on the day that show how the 2012 Games are creating fantastic skills, employment and business opportunities for the city.

The roadshow will then go on to visit every London borough from January until April 2008. For more information visit the 2012 website.
