  1. This is not as bad as I feared. I understand that Gatecrasher were looking for a London venue and that would have been the end of that for Heaven as a primary gay venue. However, I would hope that Jeremy Joseph is planning to use the fact that he can continue to operate at the Astoria for a while as an opportunity to close Heaven and carry out the major refurbishment it needs. The new Funktion One sound system on the main floor is a worldbeater and the older Turbosound setups on the other floors are still very good but the lighting rigs (the stunning laser excepted) and the general decor have suffered from a lack of any investment since 1998.I know the state of the Astoria is not Jeremy’s fault (he does not own it) but I just hope he wants to keep the name Heaven (I would really, really hate to see it renamed G-A-Y) and make it a club we can truly be proud of again and not just treat it as a cheap cashcow. On the subject of Ghetto, I would have thought the Island Club, which is part of the Heaven complex, would make an ideal new home.
