Xmas cards and a single to raise funds for GMFA
A gay men’s health charity has come up with some novel fundraising schemes just in time for World AIDS Day and Christmas.
Lee Thomas (a.k.a. 4th Child) is releasing a World AIDS Day single with sales that will benefit gay men across London.
The single, Lovers Best Friends, will be available for download only and is released on November 26th 2007. Profits will be donated to the gay men’s health charity GMFA.
“The first time I recorded Lovers Best Friends, in 1993, a close friend of mine was diagnosed HIV positive,” said Lee.
“He has since passed away and rather than let him or anyone else be remembered as just another statistic, I want this record to be for them.”
Lee Thomas has worked with some of the music industry greats, including Sony and Culture Club’s Helen Terry.
The single’s writers and producers have credits with David Gray, New Order, Will Young, the Spice Girls, Sophie Ellis Bextor and even Kylie!

Downloads will be available from: iTunes, Napster, MTV Digital, Download Centre, MSN, Tunetribe, Oxfam eMusic, Tiscali Music Downloads and Y! Music Unlimited.
GMFA has also teamed up with card company www.studio51.com.
Supporters can buy online Christmas cards from Studio51 that will help raise funds.
After choosing your cards (minimum order is 20), select GMFA as your chosen charity, fill in your details and the cards will be posted to you. GMFA will receive 51 pence for every pound spent.
GMFA has also teamed up with eBay so you can buy presents or sell those unwanted gifts and make a donation from the winning bid.
At www.ebay.co.uk/charity sellers can choose GMFA as their nominated charity, followed by the percentage of the sales price they wish to donate – and eBay do the rest.
Once items are listed that will benefit GMFA, buyers can search for them directly, safe in the knowledge that their money will go to the charity.
