9 November 2007Same-sex couples fight for equal health benefits + The Michigan Supreme Court currently is weighing whether a constitutional amendment barring gay marriages also prohibits public agencies and schools from offering health care benefits to the same-sex partners of employees.According to the Detroit Free Press, the state's high court heard arguments from both sides on Tuesday, with lawyers representing Attorney General Mike Cox saying such benefits are unconstitutional because they mirror benefits available only to married couples. -

9 November 2007Brighton teenagers trading sex for a place to stay + Vulnerable young people are trading sex just for a place to sleep, a year-long research study by charity Barnardos has revealed.The work focused on Sussex, and the vast majority of young people described in the case studies as 'known' or 'suspected' examples of sexual exploitation were aged between 16 and 18 years and were of White British origin.One quarter was male and the majority of these young men identified as gay. -
