    All this discrimination and anti-gay hostility in Lithuania is hardly surprising. Like Poland, its population is largely Roman Catholic.

    George, I concur, no different than the C of E either, given Rowan Williams’ dismal record. About time state religion were abolished if you ask me. Has absolutely no place in the political arena, anachronistic and irrelevant. If people want to believe, let them keep it in their homes, but don’t shove it down our throats or use it as political weapon to discriminate. If gay people pay taxes, they should have the same rights and privileges as anybody else, no exceptions if they believe in real democracy, which many don’t.
