One in four women would consider having sex with another woman according to a new online survey of the nation’s female sex lives.

Ninety-one per cent of the women questioned described themselves as either heterosexual or straight in the survey, but 26 per cent admitted that they would consider having sex with a women, or that they had fantasised about it.

Of more than 200 women questioned in the survey, conducted by lesbian personals site GaydarGirls.com, seven per cent admitted they had had sex with another woman.

16 per cent said they had fantasised about bedding another girl – and three per cent admitted they would if their male partner asked them too

The survey follows claims in Sundays newspapers that Spice Girl Melanie Brown had a two year relationship with two lesbians.

The Sunday Mirror has claimed that Mel B had sex with a mother of two whom she met at the gates of the school where her child is a student. It also said that the women were then joined by a sex toy vendor for threesomes.

GaydarGirls.com business manager Aisha Chaudhry says the rumours surrounding Mel B came as little surprise as more and more women admit to being bi-curious or wanting to have bi-sexual experiences.

Ms Chaudhry told PinkNews.co.uk: “The results of our survey throws a whole new light on modern women’s sex lives, with more and more heterosexual women admitting that they want to expand their sexual experiences beyond blokes.

“We’ve always know that a lot of women surfing our personals site consider themselves to be heterosexual but are online because they are bi-curious and intrigued by the possibilities of an erotic encounter with another woman that goes well beyond the usual friendship.”

Founded in 2002, GaydarGirls has 205,000 members in the UK and 300,000 globally.
