Russian bureaucrats are steeped in the Stalinist politics of the USSR and their debased, reactionary persecution of gays and lesbians is part of that nightmare legacy. Stalinism didn’t vanish as the debilitated USSR entered its death agony, it simply morphed into the bureaucratic leadership of the Russian Republic. The long suffering Russians are overdue for another Red Revolution, which based on a far more advanced economy than the last one, has a good chance of prospering. When a new Red Revolution happens it will resume the all out assault on superstition and ignorance embodied in christian groups. Then gays, lesbians and national minorities in Russia can breathe safely. In the meantime we have to do all we can to denounce the Stalinist bureaucrats antigay policies and defend our brothers and sisters in Russia and other regions of the former USSR.
It’s ridiculous the suffering people go through to be who they are abroad compared to here, Canada, Spain, Germany…Although I think Mr. Alexeyev is right to have outed the politician, especially if he had been as open as he was in the past.It annoys me that people are happy to be associated as straight but not as gay. I hate being referred to as gay, for people to say it’s a compliment ‘Ryan, you’re so straight-acting’ or ‘I couldn’t tell you were gay’ is exactly not what we’re aiming for.Anyone can be queer and the more we talk about people who naturally lead a lifestyle with a gay sexuality will help bring about equality and recognise the restrictions people have worldwide…In My Opinion
