There has been talk for the past few years about the absence of gay sports media.

Gaysports.com and Outsports.com have been leading the way on the internet for promoting gay athletes and gay athletics, and although a few magazines will have periodic sports pieces, it isn’t until now that there has been a gay publication dedicated to sports.

Media Out Loud LLC owners Eric Carlyle and David Riach have launched the first publication dedicated to focusing on local, national and global gay sports.

Editors of the magazine describe Sports out Loud as “Men’s Health meets Sports Illustrated with just a hint of The Advocate thrown in.”

Carlyle added: “We hope to serve a healthy dose of sports and fun for both the gay spectator and gay athlete.”

There have been several monumental gay sporting events over the past few years and not a lot of media coverage.

The magazine is hoping to fill that void and bring the events to a wider audience.

Each issue of Sports Out Loud will include a slew of sports and sports-related articles, insights into the world of professional sports, news on local gay sporting events, profiles of athletes, health and nutrition news, and information on the latest training and athletic gear.

The first issue of Sports out Loud features amateur athletes from Dallas in a swimsuit layout.

Celebrated photographer Sean Northcutt conducted the shoot.

“To put it simply, I love journalism and I love sports. I feel very fortunate to be able to combine those two worlds,” editor Ted Rybka said about the new venture.
