12 May 2007Serbia win, Scooch manage not to come bottom 3 Marija Å erifović of Serbia has won the Eurovision Song Contest with 288 votes.She is the daughter of Serbian singer Verica Å erifović and a Bosniak immigrant father from Turkey.Camp stars Scooch managed to score second from bottom with 19 points for the United Kingdom.As has become the norm of late, the Eastern European, Scandinavian and Balkan states voted for each other. -

14 May 2007Serial killer fear as two gay men murdered + Police in Halifax, Nova Scotia issued a public warning on Friday for the city's gay community to protect themselves after two gay men were found murdered."Both victims were gay men who were known to frequent cruising areas in Halifax regional municipality," Deputy Chief Chris McNeil of Halifax Regional Police said in a statement to the media."We do not know if their sexual orientation or the cruising areas played a factor in their deaths." -

14 May 2007Polish embassy protest planned for IDAHO + LGBT activists will be demonstrating outside the Polish embassy in London on Thursday as one of many protests worldwide for International Day Against Homophobia.The event will be part of events in over 50 countries to show a united international stand against gay hate.Poland is being targeted because of both attitudes within the country and also new legislation the government there is trying to bring in which is likely to encourage homophobia in schools. -
14 May 2007Huge crowds in Rome protest gay rights 1 Hundreds of thousands of people, including many families with children, came out to protest in Rome on Saturday about a government bill that included legal rights for homosexual couples.The "Family Day" rally in St John Lateran piazza drew people from across Italy.The protest was organised by lay Catholic groups and family associations but not formally backed by the Vatican. -
14 May 2007Riga Pride gets more international support 2 Human rights campaigners from across Europe are to attend next month's Riga Pride.Last year the march was attacked and missiles and human excrement were thrown at participants.Gay and lesbian protesters were refused permission to march in Riga on the 22nd July 2006 by city officials, who cited security advice from the interior ministry. -

15 May 2007Police institutionally homophobic, says report 57 Police detectives investigating murders and violent crimes in the gay community are influenced by institutional homophobia, a report claims.The report by the independent Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Advisory Group (LGBT IAG) looked at 10 homophobic murders between 1990 and 2002, including five murders by serial killer Colin Ireland.Four of the cases investigated remain unsolved. -
