2 May 2007Pride event is a first for Plymouth 5 Gay pride is coming to the West Country, in the shape of plymouth prideevent 2007, a celebration of LGBT people in Devon and Cornwall.The weekend, which will include a carnival, will be held in and around Plymouth on June 2nd and 3rd.It is the first time that a large-scale pride festival has taken place in the South West, and thousands of people are expected to attend. -
2 May 2007Croatia accused of homophobia in schools + A sex education programme in Croatia has been slammed by the European Parliament because it encourages homophobia.The programme is backed by the Roman Catholic Church and teaches that there should be no sex outside marriage, no safe sex, and no gay sex.Croatia is not a member of the EU, but has applied to join and is regarded as likely to be admitted in 2009 or 2010. -
2 May 2007Diverse events in London for IDAHO + The London boroughs of Lambeth and Wandsworth will be celebrating the International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO) on May 17th.Their celebrations will focus on the area of Clapham Common, which is shared by both boroughs.There will be a memorial for the murder of Jody Dobrowski at the bandstand on the common. -

2 May 2007School shooting linked to gay abuse + A teenage boy accused of shooting his school principal has pleaded not guilty to first degree murder.Eric Hainstock, a 16-year-old from Wisconsin, will claim he has been the victim of persistent homophobic abuse at school.He was allegedly upset that Weston School's principal, John Klang, had done nothing to stop other students from teasing him about his sexuality. -

2 May 2007One hour HIV testing service launched + Sexual health charity Terrence Higgins Trust has launched a rapid service for gay and bisexual men in Newcastle.The city's NHS Primary Care Trust and MESMAC North East are working together with THT to launch a testing service called the "Fastest" clinic.It will offer a one hour HIV testing - results from tests at sexual health clinics can take several days. -
