    In view of the homophobic nature of many of the countries involved, I’m not sure that this is anything a gay activist ought to be involved in. He won’t be able to do anything to progress gay rights because he will have become part of the systemand the process.

  2. Countries are not monolithic. They are made up of individuals with their own minds, at least some with the possibility of being changed. For those that will hear, from wherever they come, the work should be done to put the message out. The Olympics bring us together as one world, despite all our differences, and point to hope for more integration and understanding in the future.
