The flamboyant wardrobe of Dame Shirley Bassey will be auctioned off on Friday 30th March by Barnados to raise money for young LGBT people.
From rare Chanel and Christian LaCroix dresses to a signed jewellery case, the 70-year-old singer has more than enough to give away.
The event, called “Hey Big Spender,” will be hosted at Café de Paris in London’s Leicester Square by Julian Bennett, star of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.
It will begin with a champagne and canapé reception, and will feature Dame Shirley-themed performances from 4 Poofs and a Piano.
Actor Christopher Biggins will be taking on the role of auctioneer.
Dame Shirley said: ‘The outfits and accessories I have donated to Barnardo’s hold some very special memories for me.
“I very much hope my fans will bid for them and raise money for the critical work Barnardo’s does with vulnerable young people in the gay community, helping to protect them from abuse and discrimination. Please dig deep everyone!”
Barnardo’s works with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people in community projects throughout the UK.
The charity works to address issues such as emotional well-being, sexual exploitation, abuse and discrimination.
Dame Shirley has had 31 hits in the UK singles chart over a span of 42 years, making her the UK’s most successful female chart artist.
She is also the only artist to have recorded more than one James Bond theme song.
