Elton John’s upcoming 60th birthday celebrations have been a source of endless speculation, with the latest report claiming that former Take That! singer Robbie Williams is going to perform a striptease on the night.

What is certain is that John will be celebrating the landmark birthday on 25th March with a performance for friends and celebrities at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

A report in today’s Daily Star newspaper quotes a friend of Williams, “Robbie knows that this is one gift that Elton won’t be able to out-do.

“The pair love to shock eachother, so Elton will probably be cooking something up for Robbie’s birthday next month.”

The paper reports that Elton John has already asked Williams to perform at his birthday gig, and that the 32-year-old will sing You Can Leave Your Hat On, the Tom Jones tune used to such memorable effect in the film The Full Monty.

In December 2005, Williams accepted substantial libel damages from the publishers of the The People and the publishers of the Daily Star newspapers over false claims that he is secretly gay.
