Congratulations, PM Zapatero, Spain is lucky to have you, a shining example of a national leader who isn’t afraid to speak out in defence of his gay and lesbian citizens. Well done!
You’re right Robert,it’s good news for the GLBT communities in Spain. The reformist PSOE has its faults but on the question of our rights they’re miles ahead of the PP. Those despicable rightwing bigots are led by an unrepentant collection of reactionaries with intimate connections to Opus Dei, arguably the worst bigots in the catholic cult. (Opus Dei is the religious branch of Franco’s fascist movement. If they could repeat the monstrous evils of the Inquisition and Franco’s brutal régime they’d do it with pleasure. They and the ayatollahs have much in common.)Like their cousins in the Australian ‘Liberal” Party and the English Conservatives, the PP can look forward to a long, well deserved retirement from politics for their contemptible anti-GLBT, anti-labor and prowar politics.
Congratulations to the PM. Hopefully the Pope can come over to America and help us keep the conservatives from maintaining power also. It seems the Pope’s and the Spanish Bishops attempt to interfere with Spain’s internal politics has backfired.
Am delighted PM Zapatero won! Well done, Spain! Bill, Opus Dei is on the decline but I don’t doubt its interference in the political process not just in Spain but also in the U.S. and elsewhere. Isn’t it transparent why Ratzi the former Nazi is coming here to foment more trouble in an important election year? There is no limit to which these forces of evil will not stoop, but it demonstrates just how very desperate they are, they’ll stop at nothing to advance their agenda, but I doubt if they’ll have much success this time around. Lets hope they don’t.
