20 December 2006Gay community refuses to hold burden over Anglican split + Progressive religious groups have expressed disappointment at the decisions by several Virginia parishes to spilt from the US Episcopal Church.The members of the Gay and Lesbian Task Force's National Religious Leadership Roundtable spoke out against a split after churches from the Diocese of Virginia, including the Truro Church and the Falls Church, which date back to British colonial times, voted to leave the Episcopal Church on Sunday. -

20 December 2006Gay legal group settle over Subway HIV suit + Gay law group Lambda Legal has today announced that it has settled a lawsuit filed in the United States District Court for the District of Nevada, Las Vegas division, on behalf of a man who was fired by a Subway restaurant owner because he has HIV.Among other things included in the settlement, the company agrees that its written policies will explicitly state that it does not discriminate against any qualified individuals with HIV. -
20 December 2006Swedish court rejects lesbian parents + A Swedish court has rejected two separate applications from lesbians who want to adopt their partner's child.In both cases, the women were inseminated in Denmark where sperm donors are anonymous, but the Swedish judge has ruled that the child has the right to find out who their biological parents are.He claims that allowing this would undermine this right, despite legal precedents allowing lesbian adoption in the past. -

21 December 2006Researchers slam anti-gay use of work + Researchers have criticised 'family values' chief James Dobson for using their work to prove his theories that gay and lesbian families are unhealthy for children.Mr Dobson, head of anti-gay group Focus on the Family, wrote an article in Time magazine criticising US Vice-President Dick Cheney's lesbian daughter over her parenting plans, he backed up his theories by using research from New York University psychologist Carol Gilligan and Yale professor Kyle Pruet. -
