“It is a similar ruling to that of Celia Kitzinger and Sue Wilkinson who were told by the High Court in London that their Canadian marriage could not be recognised in the UK.”I disagree. The ruling in the UK was about whether the marriage would be recognised as marriage or a civil partnership, as I understand, but the case in Ireland seems to be more about having any rights at all. Since the difference between marriage and cp is almost entirely one of language, it’s a different issue to the actual lack of rights in Ireland. This isn’t to say the language isn’t important. I admit I’m not totally up on all of this, but that’s how it seems to me. Right?
