Novelty favourites the Cheeky Girls accepted a cheque on behalf of Childline last night at an event hosted by gay social networking community Jake.

The event, held in London’s West End, comes as Jake announced that it has chosen Childline as it’s Charity for 2007. The cheque for £36,495.52 is money raised for the children’s charity by TheRecyclingFactory.com, who are supporting Childline whilst highlighting the need for better recycling.

The Cheeky Girls attended the gay event wearing dresses made entirely from recycled bags.

“I’d like to thank The Recycling Factory for supporting ChildLine through their printer cartridge recycling scheme,” said AndrĂ© Le Gouais, corporate partnership executive of Childline. “To date, The Recycling Factory has raised over £35,000 to help us answer more calls from children and young people, many of whom feel they have nowhere else to turn for help.”

Jake has invited the charity to attend its Christmas Party in the VIP area at fashionable nightclub Number 5 Cavendish Square.
