Well I am keen to make a novena to Our Lady of Loretto for the success of the vote for gay marriage in Italy. I am sure she will answer our prayers to protect her gay sons and daughters.
As I understand an agreement was reached between the vatican and the Italian Government decades ago that the vatican would be a separate state within Italy provided that they (the vatican) stayed out of that countries political system. Any ruling passed by Brussels does not apply to the vatican as they are not in the European Community.
