Celebrities who are outed by the media should be referred to as “lanced,” according to former N’Sync band member Lance Bass.

The star who recently came out coined the turn after seeing oterh celebrities being forced out of the closet.

His terminology was revealed by his partner, gay model, Reichen Lehmkuhl.

Lehmkuhl was speaking about actor Neil Harris being forced to admit he is gay after media reports last week, he told Associated Press Radio: “It’s to be outed by someone in the public media and to be a celebrity, and Neil Patrick Harris, I understand, has been ‘lanced.'”

“People should be able to come out on their own. I don’t know so much that it helps gay equality if a celebrity is outed by someone else and it shows that they’re forced out.”

Bass opened up about his sexual orientation in an interview with People magazine in the summer, claiming he felt under pressure to keep it a secret to so not to “overpower everything.”

He said: “I knew that I was in this popular band and I had four other guys’ careers in my hand, and I knew that if I ever acted on, it would overpower everything,”

“I didn’t know, could that be the end of ‘N Sync,’ So I had that weight on me of like, ‘Wow, if I ever let anyone know, it’s bad.’ So I just never did.”
