Fans have criticised gay star Sir Elton John after the singer launched into a swearing tirade against his record label for not promoting his new album adequately.

The singer used a concert in New York recently to showcase his new material but added that people may not have heard the songs as his label Interscope Records “haven’t promoted it.”

He claimed his new album the Captain and The Kid had been a flop because, “My record label isn’t doing anything to help. F*** Universal.”

He said: “I’m going to play a song but I’m sure you haven’t heard it because the f**kers haven’t promoted it.”

A shocked fan told the Daily Mail: “What is wrong with Sir Elton? He needs an ego check. What has got into him?”. “He gets away with it because he is Elton. But very few artists could bad-mouth their label like that.”

Sir Elton finished his tirade, which reportedly included around 15 swear words, by calling on his label to drop him.
