The Metropolitan Police are to launch a poster campaign in a bid to encourage homophobic hate crime reporting.

The posters, which will be distributed to gay venues as well as sports centres, will be run in partnership with the Rugby Football Union and bear the slogan “help is kick hate crime into touch’.

“It is vital we reach out to victims of homophobic hate crime so that they do not suffer in silence and we are able to bring offenders to justice,” says Detective Assistant Commissioner Rose Fitzpatrick of The Metropolitan Police.

The official launch of the campaign is at 5pm tonight (Wed) at Scotland Yard. Senior police officers, the president of the Rugby Football Union, and representatives of Kings Cross Steelers will be in attendance
