Elton John joins John Peel Tribute

Elton John has become the latest and perhaps best known star to join the tribute to the late but great radio dj.

Sir Elton will play piano and sing on a single, a cover of the Buzzcocks song ‘ever fallen in love’ to be released on November 21 the proceeds of which will go to human rights charity Amnesty International.

The gay star will join a number of bands and artists for the project including The Futureheads and The Datsuns, The Who’s Roger Daltrey, Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour and The Buzzcocks Pete Shelley are also involved.

John Peel died just over two years ago of a heart attack, he was revered and loved for his ability to uncover and give air time too unknown artists. The single is the latest in a long line of tributes and outpourings of affection for the radio legend.
