Grey’s Anatomy star comes out
Hit US medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, has been a cult hit with gay and lesbian viewers since its debut on Channel 5 earlier this year.
Now TR Knight, who plays surgical intern Dr George O’Malley in the show, has released a statement to People magazine revealing that he is gay.
“I guess there have been a few questions about my sexuality, and I’d like to quiet any unnecessary rumours that may be out there,” the statement reads.
“While I prefer to keep my personal life private, I hope the fact that I’m gay isn’t the most interesting part of me.”
33-year-old Knight was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A successful stage career on Broadway led to television roles in Frasier, CSI and Law Order.
Grey’s Anatomy follows a group of surgical interns, the physicians who serve as mentors to the interns, and the complicated sexual and personal relationships between them.
