  1. This email about 10 years old now!!! Our lovely friends at Christian Voices have even published a response to it, further quoting from the Bible and rediculing the writer (and themselves to be honest)…

  2. why can’t people just live and let live ?That’s the philosophy of my dear aunty Patsy.Regards Gary Burns.Gay Rights Campaigner,Sydney Australia.

Firstly. if you did some serious Bible Study you would find out how much nonsense is contained in this comment by Dave McElhill.Homosexuality is called a sin right through the bible from the first chapter to the last. It is often referred to as sexual immorality (ALL sex outside a male/female/ marriage relationship) and Jesus used that phrase too. So it is a lie to say Jesus said nothing about homosexuality (out of interest he did not actually say ‘sex with children’ was wrong so is that OK too?)Secondly. The Bible is criticised but are you all too gutless to actually criticise the Quran too – It still says homosexuals should be stoned along with adulterers and they actually do so in some Muslim countries. Where is the outcry about that? The New Testament, and most Christians today, say homosexuality can be healed through repentance and faith in the love of Jesus Christ. I have ex homosexual friends who have, it may take time but because homosexuality is NOT innate it can happen.

  4. “The Christian view that all intercourse outside marriage is immoral was, as we see in the … passages from St. Paul, based upon the view that all sexual intercourse, even within marriage, is regrettable. A view of this sort, which goes against biological facts, can only be regarded by sane people as a morbid aberration. The fact that it is embedded in Christian ethics has made Christianity throughout its whole history a force binding towards mental disorders and unwholesome views of life.” That’s what Bertrand Russell thinks, and I have nothing to add to these words.

  5. I’m fascinated by these pro-Bible, anti-gay activists who time and time again find their way to comment on gay or gay-interest blogs and news articles. Now, is it just me, or is there something seriously to be questioned about men and women who work against gay people spending their time in front of computers hunting down gay stuff on the Web? It kind of reminds me of Mary Whitehouse spending all her time watching video nasties, porn and late-night TV so that she could criticise it and fight to make sure that while she was able to watch it and make up her own mind, nobody else should, in her view, be able to do the same. And, no, Jesus said nothing about sex with children but that’s hardly the point. Fundie Christians claim the entirety of the Bible is God’s Holy Word and so it follows they cannot pick and mix and yet they do. The hypocrisy is stunning and frankly, if I had a penny for every Christian posting online who referenced their unseen, unheard from ‘friends who are ex-gay’, well I’d be minted. Most ex-gays I’ve ever met – and having been a born-again Christian two decades ago for three years before I came out, I’ve met a few – are deeply unhappy, troubled individuals whose denial of sexuality not only in the bedroom but in their personalities and means of expression is slowly but surely destroying them. The assumption of heterosexual normalcy and perfection irritates the hell out of me and when you look at incidents of domestic marital violence, divorce, adultery, paedophilia and so on, you can’t help but see all sexualities as inherently natural AND inherently flawed as well. It is not in sex we find our crimes but in how we treat each other; by that score, there is no real difference between a vicious scene queen and an evangelical nutcase. Neither respect others and do their best to put them down. The rest of us, gay or straight or whatever, are more concerned with living life than trying to force others into boxes and behaviours not their own choice. x

As a former Christian I’ve had this debate over and over again and have never heard a decent Christian argument against homosexuality. In all honesty I’m tired of it. The Church is a bastion of backward thinking and fighting progress. The best argument I’ve found and one that just leaves the Christian stumped is to say something along the lines of:’Throughout the Church’s history it has systematically persecuted or oppressed black people, women, Muslims, gay people, Jews, disabled people, young people, old people. Yet for every single one of those most Christians in the west would probably agree the Church was wrong in doing so. Persecution of black people – wrong, women – wrong, Muslims – wrong, Jews – wrong, and so on. Why then does it consider it a wise course to now continue its history of persecution by oppressing gay people? In 50 years time the Church will be admitting it got it wrong again.’They can never answer it. However we must remember that not all Christians are like that. The Gay and Lesbian Christian Movement has done a lot for the gay cause and contains some good writing concerning Christianity and homosexuality. Let’s keep up the fight – they’ll admit they’re wrong eventually.

I do think it’s an unbalanced way to use the bible verses from the old testament as a platform to prove things to be right or wrong. After all, a pig is regarded as an unclean animal in the o/t scriptures. How many peaople will enjoy a pork lunch, a bacon and egg breakfast, a ham sandwich etc; etc; No, quoting those o/t scriptures are only causing aggravation. A more effective use of Gods’ word would bring avbout a conviction if we looked at the language of the new testament where God does not mince words. For example; in Romans chapter one, the word of God spells it out so crystal clear that it would put an end to all disputes over this controversal issue. If we’re going to ask questions about what the Bible says, we can only- and I mean only – turn to the Bible for the answer. Wishy washy wishful thinking and personal opinions have no place to answer something so detrimental about gays and lesbians. This is what the living word of the living God says and if anyone fails to agree, then you take it up with God yourself not critisize those who believe it. Romans 1. verse 18. “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness. That should be enough to make any God fearing person tremble. But it wont because people do not fear God. Verse 20 says:- ” You are without excuse” Ooops! How many are making excuses over this issue? Billions. In verses 21 – 22 it goes on to say that these people became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools” That’s a kick up the backside for some people eh?
You see, God will not be mocked – don’t even try it on – it wont work ok. Now in verse 24 – 25 the language gets a bit stronger for those who have not yet got the message. Here it tells us that:- “God gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the creator” Are you with me so far? God is saying here, you’re not listening to a word I’m telling you, so get on with it, and nobody can deny this. Then in verse 26 we learn this truth:- “For this cause God gave them over to vile effections/shameful lusts in other words” This is what God thinks about them that do these perverted acts. Check it out. The scripture continues to explain clearly that:- “Even their women exchanged natural relation for unnatural ones” Verse 27. “In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion” Unquote. Did you get that message? Now you can’t get it any clearer than that can you. God has spelled it out in simple to understand words, in such a way that no-one can say they didn’t understand or didn’t whow what it means to be gay or lesbian, and this is why God says they are without excuse. God will not listen to excuses. Anyway, Are you still withh me? God has not had His say completely just yet, He has more scathing words to tell you about you who do these things, and about you who suppart what they do. Look at verse 28. Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, He gave them over to a depraved mind (a reprobate mind) to do what ought not to be done” Aint finished yet folks, verse 29 coming your way in a moment. How many people totally reject God? How many people think they know better that God? How many people are so arrogant that they they are convinced they’re right and eveyone else is in error? We’re talking about the creator God. The Almighty God. The Supreme LORD of Lords. The Alpha and Omega. Please take note. It’s serious. In verses 29 – 31 we are told:- “They become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity, slanderers, God haters, insolent. arrogant, boastful; they invent ways of doing evil, senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless” you can read all about it for yourselves. These are not my words. This is what God says. And last verse says this:- “Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do these things” In Ephesians chapter 5 verse 7, those who are Christians are instructed ‘not to partake of them’ None of these gays and lesbians will ever inherit the kingdom of heaven – including gay and lesbian preachers. Who says so? God says so in 1 Corinthians 6: 9. No debate, it is written. The Lord also has something else to say in Revelation 22: 11 but it’s too embaressing to quote it here. Please read it for yourselves. This is why I say the old testament scriptures are not the best ones to use. May I say this to GUY. The main reason why there’s so much crossfire from Christians is because Christians are simply trying to explain why they cannot go along with the behaviour of gays and lesbians. But in doing so, they are ridiculed and insulted. The same biblical principles apply to terrorists, murderers, pedophiles, all God haters, child abusers, wife beaters, thieves, extortioners, etc; etc; etc; Unless of course, they repent and humbly receive Christ Jesus as their Saviour. You know, the one everybody sings about in Christmas carols….. Or maybe soon, these will be banned.
