Go Andrew, you get my vote!

As a gay Labour councillor in Hackney, I am rather amazed by the remarks of Cllr Boff in your article. Mr Boff claims “It’s not the kind of borough that has gay issues, people accept diversity.”Well, tell that to his colleagues, one of whom referred to gay civil partnerships as an “abomination” and apparently spoke on behalf of Hackney’s “religious communities”.Mr Boff has refused to condemn his colleague, as did his Group leader. And on one other point of accuracy – even if Lib Dem voters were short-sighted enough to transfer their 2nd preference votes to him, he’d still lose by a margin of 2:1, on 2002 figures.Cllr Alan LaingLabour Councillor for Hackney Central WardLondon Borough of Hackney

  3. Alan,On your second point, we were speculating on the outcome if Labour same a sizeable drop in support as is predicted across London.PinkNews

  4. Interestingly, Andrew Boff is part of a new generation of out UK councillors. Check out this listing of Britain’s for details…

  5. Brian is in danger of splitting the normal peoples vote and letting Doris Johnson in by default. Typical useless Lib Dem, only seeing half the picture.
