I wish I could come to this site without feeling the need to correct the dozens of errors in your reporting EVERY time I read it.The lesbian candidate for Representative in Alabama WAS NOT appointed to office. She was elected to office. THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE. Appointments are made by the President or Governor without public review. She was selected by the Democratic voters of the 54th legislative district in a primary election. Her selection as the Democratic candidate for the general election assure her the seat since there is no Republican or other party candidate to challenge her in the general election. She was elected by the Democrats of her district, rather than by the general population, but she was ELECTED and not APPOINTED none-the-less.
