  1. In the first six months after Ayatollah Khomeini took power in Iran and declared an Islamic Republic, 400 gay men were stoned to death (The Times, London). The ritual stonings had the men buried up to their waists in sand, hooded and then stoned. El Muhajeroun campaigned in British universities in support of similar barbarism.Many dcent Muslims are revolted by such behaviour but Islam, like Christianity and orthodox Judaism, relies on texts of the profoundest hatred and organised religion is a serious threat to us.
