Top award for gay Israeli Filipino film

The Los Angeles Film Festival, that closed last night saw its audience award bestowed to Israeli gay film, ‘Paper Dolls’.

The film is set in one of Tel Aviv’s most religious neighbourhoods, where a small group of gay Filipino immigrants work as care assistants for elderly religious patients.

Whilst by day they are the height of respectability, by night they perform in drag as the ‘Paper Dolls’,

The film centres on the incongruous, often tender relationships with their employers, as well as their struggles with immigration authorities and the local gay community.

Written and Directed by Tomer Heymann the film stars Chiqui Diokno, Jojo Diokno, Troan Jacob Libas, Sally Comatoy, Efrenito Manalili, Jose Neil Datinguinoo, Francisco Oritz Jr., Eduardo Javar, Chaim Amir.
