Elton John headlines EuroPride

Sir Elton John will perform at this summer’s EuroPride Show in the Royal Albert Hall.

The chairperson of Pride London, Steven Cootes, confirmed the rumour to PinkNews.co.uk amid speculation of whom the events’ mystery guest would be at the gay pride’s 2006 climax show on July 2 2006.

Already confirmed to take part will be Julian Clary, Graham Norton, Tina C, Alan Carr, Stephen Fry, Sandi Toksvig, Betty Legs Diamond Company from Blackpool Funnygirls.

London’s newest show from America Avenue Q have also agreed to perform a specially written piece. Gay Men’s Chorus will be singing with a surprise star.

The show, which is being produced in association with Gaydar Radio, promises to be a spectacle and an evening full of surprises. But the Producers need some help from the public, they are looking for 100 gay couples that have recently registered their Civil Partnership, these couples will have the opportunity of appearing in the show.

CBBC presenter and Doctor Who star Andrew Hayton Smith will also appear alongside the Avenue Q puppets.

Sir Ian McKellen, creative director of THE SHOW said: “Elton wants to be celebrating EuroPride 2006 in London with the rest of us. He is one of the most generous stars in the world. THE SHOW just keeps growing all the time and The Royal Albert Hall will be the only place to be on July 2nd!”

Meanwhile, Mr Cootes refused to confirm rumours that George Michael and Dame Shirley Bassey will appear.
