The body of a man found on a popular gay Spanish resort is believed to be missing Briton, Kevin Hoare, police claim.

Kevin Hoare, 39, disappeared in the early hours of May 11 2006 after friends left him at Organics Club, a gay bar in Sitges.

The Bognor Regis based production worker, failed to meet his brother at Gatwick Airport two days later and there has been no movement on his mobile phone or bank account.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said the cause of death is so far unknown.

Chief Inspector Brian Bracher said: “Obviously this is terrible news for the family, who are having to fly to Spain to establish if the body is definitely Kevin’s.

“Our thoughts and sympathies are with them at this very difficult time.

“There is currently very little further information.

“We are continuing to liaise with the Spanish authorities and the British Consulate so we can establish exactly what happened to Kevin on the night he disappeared.”

A formal identification will take place when his family fly to Barcelona today.

Witnesses are still being sought to determine what happened.
