The Plymouth Pride Event community team has announced the final details of events taking place as part of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Week 2006 across the city of Plymouth from Saturday 27th May through to Sunday 4th June.

There will be an array of events taking place across the city from a Pink Picnic up on the Hoe, LGBT Film Festival at the Arts Centre to parties galore at some of Plymouth’s gay venues.

The main event builds on the model of a gay pride, but rather than having everything on one day, the event is spread across a whole week.

Events include a balloon race, film festivals and themed evenings.

Paul Roberts of the Intercom Trust, a South West regional LGBT charity, said, “We are delighted to see an event such as this happening in Plymouth. We are used to seeing gay prides every year, but this is something else. Something that spans a whole week, with events aimed at trying to involve as many people as possible.

“The LGBT communities of Plymouth should be proud of themselves for organising this!”
