Three gay lovers are facing up to 15 years in prison after being accused of castrating six men and filming it.

Police discovered a “dungeon” at the North Carolina home of Richard Sciar, 61, Michael Mendez, 60, and Danny Reeves, 49, all of whom could be charged with castration without malice, maiming without malice and practicing medicine without a licence.

The suspects insisted their actions were agreed with the victims and told investigators some had travelled a long way for it.

Consent is not defence in North Carolina state law.

They will go to court in two weeks.
