A transvestite jumped to his death in the Thames after his family couldn’t accept his lifestyle, according to a coroner’s report.

Nahi Mudwai’s body was found at Mill Bank in February after reports of a ‘female’ running along the Embankment throwing away clothes and jumping into the water.

Westminster coroner Dr Paul Knapman said Mr Mudwai, 25, from Earl’s Court who wanted to live as a woman, had family difficulties.

He recorded a verdict of misadventure, stating he was not certain Mr Mudwai, a gay escort, had actually meant to kill himself.

Pc John Ericksen said Mr Mudwai,a Muslim, sought asylum in Britain because he was persecuted in Sudan for being gay, he said: “He dressed as a woman and was known to his friends as Dana. He frequently took ecstasy and cocaine.”
