A support website has been set up to help make it easier to deal with and report homophobic and hate crimes.

The site, Silence is Not Golden, aims to provide support for victims of homophobic incidents, in partnership with Hertfordshire Police.

Users can find out how homophobic incidents are classified and how and why these incidents should be reported.

Hertfordshire Police’s community engagement officer, Alison Begley said: “Hertfordshire Constabulary is committed to tackling hate crime.

“The silence is not golden website provides helpful advice and guidelines for victims of homophobic crimes and, like our hate crime officers, it encourages victims to come forward so that we can take the appropriate action.”

The website, www.silenceisnotgolden.org also provides tips about going out and staying safe.
