A gay Austrian is facing deportation from Ghana after immigration officials arrested him for homosexual acts.

Officials say he was apprehended with a Nigerian partner in the capital city of Accra and accused of using young unemployed men for pornographic films and falsely promising them European visas.

Thomas Wild, 39, admitted producing and marketing pornographic films. He also said that he paid each “actor” one hundred euros per movie.

Immigration officers told the AllAfrica news agency that they discovered several pornographic materials in a search of Mr Wild’s home, these included videos that contained erotic pictures and films and featured him in sexual acts with the men. They also found gadgets including video cameras, undeveloped films, vibrators and lubricants.

It is believed that there are several people conducting similar activities in Ghana, where homosexual sex is illegal.

Mr Wild faces jail, a fine or expulsion from the country. The Nigerian has already been deported.
