A gay council group in West Hollywood is suggesting an lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender specific emergency pack in the event of a terrorist attack or natural disaster.

The Lesbian and Gay Advisory Board of the city of West Hollywood believes the LGBT community needs its own pack and is hoping the City Council will review and consider its proposal.

So far the group has come up a small list of items that that all gays and lesbians and their families should have available for their safety and peace of mind.

One suggestion counters the legal grey area of gay marriage, they recommend having documents showing partner connections such as photos, partnership registrations and information on joint accounts.

The group say gay bars should remain open as community centres and gathering places for news and support. They added that a support line should be gay friendly.
